A California Christmas, Part 1 -- Hot Sauce

One of the many hilarious events of our California Christmas adventure...Adam decided to try a hot sauce called something like "the Ultimate" on his oyster. The pictures pretty much tell the story. (He had no idea I was taking pictures, so he is not acting just for show.)

The Before Picture

Whoa, that's spicy!

Now he is literally sweating!

" Oh my gosh!"

"Let me try some water"

"Maybe eating the butter packet will help"

"What did I just eat?!"

And then he bought some to take home.

3rd Annual Tacky Christmas Sweater Party

I know I pretty much only post pictures now...I've been trying to think of something creative to write but that hasn't been very successful. So here are some pictures from our party.

Thanksgiving -- California Style

So this is the view from my brother, Adam's, new home in San Clemente, CA. He literally walks down the hill from his new house (like a block away) and this is what he sees! I don't think he could have done any better. He is loving it out in California -- has a great job, a new sweet girlfriend, a cute house, a church home and is living in a fabulous little beach town.
Another beautiful picture from Uncle Mike's in Santa Barbara -- it never gets old right?

So there was this random chair on the beach so I climbed up the rocks to sit in it. How did it get there?

Oh the gorgeous sunsets in Santa Barbara.

New Shows

I'll start this by saying I watch way too much TV....blame it on the ease that DVR brings. In addition to my old shows (LOST, Gilmore Girls, America's Next Top Model, Grey's Anatomy, The Bachelor, Desperate Housewives), now I've added many of the season's new shows to the line up.

Brothers & Sisters -- I love Sally Field in this and I just like the family dynamics.
Heroes -- Not my favorite of the new shows but its kind of interesting and my roommates watch it.
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip -- Love Matthew Perry & Bradley Whitford. I also liked Aaron Sorkin's writing from West Wing and this is that same style.
6 Degrees -- I thought it was kind of a disappointment at first but JJ Abrams always makes such great shows that I had to watch. It keeps getting better.
Men in Trees -- So this is my really random new show...but for some reason I really like it. Not a big Anne Heche fan but she's good in this and I love the adorable little Alaskan town.

And I have to watch Emmitt (and sometimes Joey & Mario) on Dancing with the Stars, but I usually fast forward through the rest of it.

So now that I sound like I have no life...

What are your favorite new shows??

I don't want to talk about it.

#16 -- Movin' On Up!

Well Emily beat me to the punch but I've been a Frog Fan for longer so I'm still going to brag about my Frogs! I've sat through plenty of seasons where we were lucky to win only 1 game so I'm not going to miss any chances. (Emily, I'm so excited you are now a Frog too!)

So TCU beat TECH as you all know. We held a normally high scoring team to only 3 points! Our defense was amazing!! Now we are #16 in the nation!! This is our 4th Big 12 Team to beat in the last two seasons...who's next? Texas next year? Its time we get the resepect we deserve. Go Frogs!!

Stephen, I'm not even sure if you read my blog...but what are your aggies ranked again since "TCU isn't looking too good this year"? :)

New York State of Mind

I just got back from my last trip of the summer...and probably last trip for a while. I went to New York City to visit some friends who were interning up there this summer. We had an amazing time! I just love New York. Since this was my 3rd trip to New York City, we were able to do some stuff that was more off the beaten path...less touristy and more local. One of the girls I stayed with has lived in Manhattan for a year and the other has been there all summer...so they had some great restaurants to go to and places to shop and other insider tips. Of course I am still such a tourist, constantly taking pictures and we still did plenty of touristy things. I had never done the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island thing so we took a ferry out to those places. I love history and geneology so I was so excited about Ellis Island and was determined to go there this trip. We saw three shows -- Avenue Q, Tarzan, and Hairspray. They were very different shows from each other but were all fabulous. We won lottery tickets for Avenue Q and Hairspray so we were on the front row and then we did student rush tickets for Tarzan so we were on like the 5th row...all for very little money...I was very spoiled. We did plenty of eating and shopping while there too...and of course more than enough walking...but that is one of my favorite things about the city. I went to Central Park, walked the Brooklyn Bridge, and walked around several of the different neighborhoods. I can't wait til I get to go back again. School starts next week...but I was blessed with a great summer full of exciting trips with wonderful family and friends.

The Mall in Central Park--this is my favorite spot in Central Park...it is so peaceful and I love the trees.
